Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 | 9:01 a.m.
Kurt Busch of Las Vegas, who won four NASCAR Winston Cup races last season, has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2003 International Race of Champions (IROC) all-star series.
Busch will be making his debut in the four-race series, which features 12 drivers from five major racing series.
Busch will be joined by fellow Winston Cup drivers Kevin Harvick (the defending IROC champion), Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman. Like Busch, Johnson and Newman will be making their IROC debuts this season.
The remainder of the field will consist of Helio Castroneves, Felipe Giaffone and Sam Hornish Jr. from the Indy Racing League's IndyCar Series; Steve Kinser and Danny Lasoski from the World of Outlaws; Greg Biffle from the NASCAR Busch Series; and Mike Bliss from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Biffle, the 2002 Busch Series champion, is moving up to the Winston Cup Series this season.
