Letter: All generations must get involved
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 | 9:14 a.m.
In response to the Jan. 5 column by high school student Valerie Delgrosso, "Redefining America," it is encouraging to see that the youth of our nation are actually taking the time to discuss politics.
The fact is that both political parties are failing. They ignore crucial issues, and a three-party system is not likely to succeed.
One solution might be for all generations to get involved and try to bring people together on issues rather than pushing blind alliance to political parties. The party that is wise will listen to the people and support the issues of the people.
There is division in America and one might argue that it is by design. Whatever the case, we still do have the power and the right to unite the masses on common issues to make needed changes.
The division between generations is very sad. Now, more than ever, those of us who grew up in the '60s and '70s have much in common with our children. We can work together to improve the unity of America, and we must.
