Joe Zaher, the former Bishop Gorman soccer star who was killed in an auto accident in December, has been named to the College Soccer News Freshman All-American first team.
Zaher, who was an attacking midfielder for Oregon State, ranked third in the Pac-10 in points (25), second in goals (10), tied for seventh in assists (5) and led the conference in game-winning goals (4).
Zaher's 25 points were the most ever scored by an OSU freshman. He earlier was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and also earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America third team all-region honors.
