Letter: Country can’t support lifestyle of Republicans
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 | 9:08 a.m.
With the dismal conditions of our American society, I am becoming very disillusioned with the Republican government. In the next presidential election, I am voting Democratic.
It seems to me that the Republicans' lavish expensive gifts on the wealthy and live in luxury. They ignore, don't care and do not help the plight of the sick, or the poor or senior citizens.
However, they are great ones for giving talks on how much they are going to do to help senior citizens, or the disadvantaged, during the time just before elections.
What have the Republicans done to ease the burden of Medicare payments for senior citizens? They have done very little. It is very frustrating to watch the Republican government, with poor decisions, get the world in turmoil.
I admire Bill Clinton, as past president, for providing a whole lot of jobs for people, bringing up the economy, and running the country much more efficiently than his predecessor. The world, as it stands, is on the brink of a terrible crisis due to poor decisions of the Republican Party.
This country cannot afford to help support the luxurious lifestyles of the rich Republicans.
