RTC to look at transit future

The future of Clark County's transportation system will be on the table Thursday.
The board of the Regional Transportation Commission will meet to discuss the "vision, mission and goals" of the agency. The strategic planning workshop will bring together the eight board members, who are representatives from elected governments from throughout Clark County and agency staff.
"It allows the commissioners to say what their priorities are and what's important in their eyes," RTC General Manager Jacob Snow said.
The discussion is primarily a vehicle for the board members to discuss their priorities, although the public can speak at the conclusion of the workshop, Snow said.
The workshop will follow a regularly scheduled meeting of the RTC board. The board at the regular meeting will consider adding a new project to the agency's long-range plan: a $5 million "intermodal transit center" in Henderson, 80 percent of that to be paid for with federal funds.
The transit center could eventually link Citizens Area Transit buses with light rail or other mass transit options.
