It may be risky business, but it's hard not to welcome 2003 without dusting off the old crystal ball and taking a look at what lies ahead.
While most predictions in this space have been unreliable in previous years, some actually have defied the odds and come true.
There's an unusual amount of optimism over this year's forecast. So here goes:
