Color set for classified ad sections

The classified advertising sections of the Las Vegas Sun and the Las Vegas Review-Journal will be more colorful next week.
Beginning Tuesday, the newspapers will print a yellow background on some classified line ads. Private-party ads can have color added for $2 per day while commercial customers would pay an extra $25 per day for color, said Rebecca Bradner, classified advertising director for the newspapers. Color can be ordered when an ad is placed.
"This is a revolutionary idea in classified newspaper advertising and will change the way our readers view the section," said Bob Brown, director of advertising for the newspapers.
The color process is possible because of technological advancements in the newspapers' press configuration.
Separately, the newspapers announced the promotion of Bradner to classified advertising director. Bradner had been local retail advertising manager.
The Sun and Review-Journal are competing newspapers with separate news staffs. However, they have joint printing, distribution and advertising operations.
