Trial delayed in hotel room killing

Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 | 9:26 a.m.

A Pennsylvania woman suspected of luring a tourist into a hotel room with a promise of sex and then robbing and killing him will not go to trial next week as planned.

Paulette Walker Perry's trial was expected to begin Monday, but was postponed until Jan. 13 because of scheduling problems among attorneys on both sides, Deputy District Attorney David Schwartz said.

Perry, 34, is charged with three felony counts, including murder with the use of a deadly weapon. She faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Police say Perry and Kenneth Maurice Grant, 34, took David Sygnarski, also of Pennsylvania, into a room at the Maxim, robbed him and stabbed him to death.

Grant will be tried separately. His trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 3.

Sygnarski, 47, was found wrapped in plastic in the hotel room on April 26. Perry and Grant were captured in California.
