Ronald Boyce

Ronald Boyce, 70, of Nevada died Monday in Las Vegas. Born June 25, 1932, in Belmore, N.Y., he was a resident for 17 years.

He is survived by four sons, Timothy Boyce, James Boyce, Christopher Boyce and Ronald William Boyce II, all of Las Vegas; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, followed by a private burial.

Frank Contrevo

Frank Contrevo, 61, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born June 30, 1941, in Philadelphia. A resident for 14 years, he was a laborer at conventions and a member of the Culinary Union.

He is survived by his wife, Leticia; six daughters, Blanca Melgar and Leticia Contrevo, both of Las Vegas, and Martha Canas, Lucrecia Dougherty, Patty Peseri and Nancy Contrevo, all of New Jersey; two sons, Frankie Contrevo, Manuel Contrevo, one brother, Peter Contrevo, and one sister, Mary Druckman, all of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

Carolyn Dempsey

Carolyn Dempsey, 58, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Aiken, S.C. A resident for 23 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; four sons, Patrick Dempsey of Dallas, Michael Schwanke of Elko and Paul Dempsey and Darrin Schwanke, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Dawna Dettmer of Las Vegas; three brothers, John Hankinson, Melvin Hankinson and Ronald Hankinson, all of South Carolina; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Esther Emett

Esther Emett, 61, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 25, 1941, in Phoenix. A resident for 46 years, she was a cashier and a member of the Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her husband, Evan; one daughter, Elisa Watts of Henderson; two sons, Eduardo Emett of San Diego and Eric Emett of Costa Mesa, Calif.; her father, Don Atreaga of Phoenix, three brothers, Nelson Alloway of North Carolina and Richard Atreaga and Edward Atreaga, both of Reno; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern, followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Sharon E. Fairbanks

Sharon E. Fairbanks, 61, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born June 1, 1941, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for 42 years, she was a retired communications operator.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Reese, and one son, Dwayne Fairbanks, both of Las Vegas; one brother, George Brown of Sacramento; one stepbrother, William Parton of Petaluma, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 4 p.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Celia Genzer

Celia Genzer, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 1, 1917, in New York City. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Bob Genzer of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Veronica R. Holger

Veronica R. Holger, 100, died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born July 19, 1902, in Chicago. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired administrative assistant and a member of the South Side Catholic Women's Club and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by two daughters, Therese Tobin of Waterloo, Iowa, and Dorothy Subic of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to The Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly of Chicago or to Misecordia Home of Chicago.

Stevon L. Johnson

Stevon L. Johnson, 47, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 19, 1955, in San Diego. A resident for nine years, he was a bartender and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; three daughters, Kathryn Gardner of Dayton, Kimberly Johnson of Garderville and Sierra Johnson of Las Vegas; one son, Dustin Johnson of Las Vegas; one brother, Stanley Johnson of Etown, Ky.; and two sisters, Sharon Vargo of Odell, Texas, and Phillis Porter of Dunnellon, Fla.

Services will be held in Carson City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Gustavo Odgers Lopez

Gustavo Odgers Lopez, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Mexico. A resident for 30 years, he was an upholster foreman at the Flamingo.

He is survived by his wife, Celia; four daughters, Grace Pena of Los Angeles and Carol Larson, Kim Merced and Rina Serrano, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Carolina Lopez of Mexico; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel, followed by burial in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Esther Lou McKinney

Esther Lou McKinney, 82, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born May 7, 1920, in El Dorado, Ark. A resident for 48 years, she was a retired school crossing guard.

She is survived by her husband, Willie; four daughters, Juanita Walker, Myiesha Fields and Dianne Hodges, all of North Las Vegas, and Suddie Mae Mittchell of Homer, La.; three sons, Joe T. Willis of Homer and Robert Willis and Deotis Willis, both of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Velma Armstrong of Las Vegas and Eva Walker of Los Angeles; four brothers, George Armstrong of Camden, Ark., Billy Armstrong of Los Angeles and Sammie Armstrong and Bobbie Armstrong, both of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-randchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1240 W. Adams Ave., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Eleanor F. McMahon

Eleanor F. McMahon, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Palmyra, N.J. A resident for 45 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Mark Massagli of Blue Diamond; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Chapel, followed by entombment in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Joseph J. Mitzel

Joseph J. Mitzel, 77, of Boulder City died Dec. 26 in a Boulder City hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Massillon, Ohio. A resident for 51 years, he was a retired painter, World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by two daughters, Dianne Fitzpatrick of Yachats, Ore., and Janice Bemis of Fairfield, Calif.; one brother, Donald Mitzel, and one stepbrother, Tom Bradley, both of Massillon, Ohio; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

David Newell Nowakowski

David Newell Nowakowski, 47, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 29, 1955, in Independence, Iowa. A resident for five years, he was a tax preparer and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Ann Nowakowski of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Deborah Sanchez of Los Angeles and Gayle Nowakowski of Gatlinberg, Tenn.

Services are private. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Steven C. Parker

Steven C. Parker, 52, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. He was born April 24, 1950, in Thomasville, N.C. A resident for eight years, he was a plumber.

He is survived by three daughters, Christina Strickland, Angela Dixon and Sheri Saunders, all of Henderson; his mother, Jean Terrazas of California; and two grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Evelyn Serota

Evelyn Serota, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born July 23, 1927, in Chicago. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired receptionist.

She is survived by her husband, Max; one daughter, Kathleen Borre of Winthorp Harbor, Ill.; one son, Michael D. Serota of Glenview, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., handled arrangements.

Burton Leon Whitney III

Burton Leon Whitney III, 42, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 3, 1960, in San Bernardino, Calif. A resident for five years, he was a cook.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberely Garbiso, his mother, Marcia Whitney, and two sisters, Beverly Wolfe and Brenda Hanson, all of Henderson; and one brother, Brad Whitney of Las Vegas.

Services are private. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Marjorie D. Zobian

Marjorie D. Zobian, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 10, 1921, in Fremont, Calif. A resident for 10 years, she was a secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; one sister, Elizabeth Adoor; two sons, Gary Allen Zobian and Vernon Zobian Jr.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Nevada Funeral Service Chapel, 2983 Fremont St.
