Hike in snow planned for Monday
Snow Day, a two-mile moderate hike through some snow to Cathedral Rock Monday, is one of the many events planned by the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Bureau of Land Management ranges and volunteers offer hikes, walks and other educational programs free of charge. Call 363-1922.
Spot Elvis and get a CAT ride
From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Citizen Area Transit riders are challenged to spot Elvis while on the bus.
Presley lookalikes will be making their way through the CAT bus system giving away prizes to those who find him.
The Regional Transportation Commission encourages commuters to join in on a day of prizes and fun. Prizes include coupons for one free ride on CAT and 2003 calendars. A contest for various Elvis giveaways will take place hourly on buses carrying impersonators. Call 228-7433.
Young artists' work will be displayed
The Nevada Housing Division will present an artists' reception at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in The Venetian's Palazzo Room D and E to recognize the 119 elementary school artists whose original works were selected for the "Where I Live" exhibition, a community partnership program.
The exhibition will be displayed through Jan. 20. Call 486-7220.
