Garage sale will benefit Street Teens
A mega-garage sale is being held to benefit Street Teens, a local nonprofit group that helps homeless and at-risk teenagers, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Commercial Center, 900 E. Karen Ave.
In addition to clothing, furniture and various other items, Street Teens will be selling discount tickets to "Showgirls of Magic" at the San Remo hotel.
For more information call 809-3585 or see the website (www.streetteens.org).
Strip-Flamingo walkways to close
The pedestrian walkways at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard South and Flamingo Road will be closed 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 3-6 while contractors replace the walking surface.
The surfaces are being replaced because the anti-skid resistant material is starting to wear thin, according to the Clark County Public Works Department. The new material, which is expected to last five to six years, is nontoxic but will have a smell after it is placed.
While the bridges are closed pedestrians will have to use alternate routes, but will not be allowed at-grade access to the intersections.
For more information call 455-6030.
