WASHINGTON -- Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., joined two other GOP senators today in renewing their call for Congress to approve a $250,000 cap on non-economic damages in medical malpractice liability lawsuits. Ensign and Sens. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., and George Voinovich, R-Ohio, said the cap would curb skyrocketing malpractice insurance rates that in some cases are driving doctors out of practice.
Congress has begun a complex debate on how to best solve a medical malpractice problem that plagues Nevada and other states.
