Commission sets public hearings on container tests
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 | 8:59 a.m.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has scheduled four public meetings in March so the public can comment on proposed tests for containers that would transport spent radioactive fuel by rail and by truck.
The proposal focuses on researching the possibilities of severe transportation accidents that could occur while moving the material.
The Southern Nevada workshops are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 12 at the Clark County Building Department, 4701 W. Russell Road; and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mountain View casino and bowling alley in Pahrump.
Two other workshops have been scheduled, one for Washington and another for Rosemont, Ill.
Written comments on the report will be accepted until May 30. They can be submitted by e-mail at ams3@nrc.gov or addressed to Ms. Amy Snyder, Spent Fuel Project Office, Mail Stop 013-D13, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C. 20555-001.
