A 7-year-old North Las Vegas boy suffered a skull fracture and other injuries when he was attacked by two pit bull terriers Sunday.
After the attack, the boy was taken to University Medical Center, where he underwent several emergency operations, including plastic surgery, North Las Vegas Police said. He is listed in stable condition but will need future operations as he recovers, officials said.
A neighbor noticed the boy being bitten and rescued him by striking the dogs in the head with a baseball bat, police said.
The pit bulls were quarantined by animal control officers at the Dewey Animal Shelter. No one had claimed them as of this morning.
Anyone with information about the animals or the attack is asked to call North Las Vegas detectives at 633-1779.
