Two Head Start facilities to be built

The Economic Opportunity Board Community Action Partnership is planning to open two new Head Start Learning Centers, one in Henderson and one in Spring Valley, in September, an official for the nonprofit group said.

The two new buildings are expected to cost $4 million each, Angela Quinn, EOB director of housing and development, said.

But an additional $500,000 now expected from the federal government will allow the group to put a larger building in Henderson.

The additional money will be used to make room for offices for a child-care assistance program, a foster grandparents program and the nonprofit organization Henderson Advocates Community Alliance.

The Henderson facility will be at 601 N. Major Ave. The other building will be at 2851 Lindell Road in southwestern Las Vegas.
