Suspect in Arizona kidnapping arrested in LV

The Criminal Apprehension Team, composed of investigators from Metro and Henderson police departments and the FBI, on Tuesday arrested Juan Alberto Cardenas, 37, who was wanted on charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a boy in Arizona.
Police said Cardenas befriended a 9-year-old boy in June 1994 at a concert and told him the boy's mother asked him to drive him home. The boy gave Cardenas his address and then fell asleep in the car. When he awoke, he was at Cardenas' home.
Police allege the boy was molested for two days and then dropped off at a Burger King.
The boy led authorities to Cardenas' home, where the suspect was arrested. He was released pending trial and didn't show up for his court date, Metro Sgt. Ted Lee said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police said Cardenas had obtained a Nevada identification card on April 4, 2002. Authorities believe he moved to Nevada shortly before that. Investigators were contacted by U.S. Immigration officials when Cardenas tried to renew his resident alien card.
