Albert S. Alimboyoguen

Albert S. Alimboyoguen, 74, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Kauai, Hawaii. A resident for nine years, he was a retired pipefitter for an oil refinery, an Army veteran and a volunteer with Telephone Pioneers.

He is survived by his wife, Verna E.; one son, Albert S. Alimboyoguen Jr. of Austin, Texas; five daughters, Donna Parisella of Canastota, N.Y., Michelle Alimboyoguen of Kauai and Tida Abressy, Darlene Rondaris and Justine Brown, all of Stockton, Calif.; three brothers, Bolo Sarita of Oahu, Hawaii, Harold Alimboyoguen of Fremont, Calif., and Ronald Alimboyoguen of California; two sisters, Juanita Caspillo of Fremont and Anna Medrano of Lihue, Hawaii; and his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 6670 W. Cheyenne Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Bettie M. Brust

Bettie M. Brust, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Marion, Iowa. A resident for 46 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two nephews, Daniel T. Brust and Clark E. Brust, and one grandniece, Korie Brust, all of Las Vegas.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling private arrangements.

Joe T. Caveness

Joe T. Caveness, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born April 4, 1924, in Gallup, N.M. A resident for 55 years, he was a retired hotel driver, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Teamsters Local 995 and retired from the Sahara after 37 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Lee Caveness of Las Vegas; one daughter, Pat Nehmelman of Ruby Valley; one sister, Mary Jones of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. until a 5 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Joseph H. Dryden

Joseph H. Dryden, 75, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Denver. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired Nevada Test Site and Pacific Operations director for the Energy Department, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Willa M.; two sons, Rodney J. Dryden of Glendale, Calif., and David W. Dryden of Las Vegas; two daughters, Linda L. Kemp and Kelley L. Bullock, both of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Catherine Lawson

Catherine Lawson, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A tax preparer, she was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Utah.

She is survived by one son, Kirk Lawson of Nevada; four daughters, Laura Pierson of Nevada, Patty Pickerell of Kentucky, Debra Vogeler of Arizona and Lucetta Scolaro of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Indiana. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Hazel A. Legg

Hazel A. Legg, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Virginia. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Wendy Williams of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and seven great-grandchildren.

Maria Maczala

Maria Maczala, 63, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Hungary. A resident for 4 1/2 years, she was a retired accountant in the automotive industry.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; one daughter, Anita Ramos of California; one son, Jozsef Kiss of Anaheim, Calif.; two stepsons, Attila Maczala of Las Vegas and Csaba Maczala of Henderson; one sister; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Orange, Calif., with services at McAulay and Wallace Mortuary in Fullerton, Calif. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is assisting with arrangements.

David A. Marshall

David A. Marshall, 69, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Indiana. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired engineering supervisor, Nevada Test Site worker, a Korean War Air Force veteran and a retired member of Operating Engineers Local 12.

He is survived by his wife, Ayako; two sons, David A. Marshall Jr. and Steven C. Marshall, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Norma Marshall Cicerone and Dorothy Marie Marshall, both of Crossville, Tenn., and Carolyn Sue Nicol of Rio Rancho, N.M.; three brothers, William Leroy Marshall Jr., Charles Eugene Marshall and James Lee Marshall, all of Crossville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bonanza Chapel, 4500 W. Bonanza Road. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

James V. Neyman

James V. Neyman, 52, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 22, 1950, in Portland, Ore. A resident for two years, he was a loader-operator for a construction site.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; and his mother, Anna Hornady.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

Janet Westwood Nicholas

Janet Westwood Nicholas, 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. An elementary school teacher, she was born July 16, 1934, in Ohio.

Burial will be in Lorain, Ohio. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Warren Geoffrey Nielson

Warren Geoffrey Nielson, 63, of Henderson died Jan. 17 in a local hospital. He was born May 17, 1939, in Chicago. A resident for two years, he was a proposition player.

He is survived by one son, Jeffrey.

Edward Wilfred Paulton

Edward Wilfred Paulton, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. A resident for 19 years, he was born June 4, 1923, in Worthing, England.

He is survived by his wife, Annie.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. Monday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Burial will be private.

Hilario 'Lalo' Perez

Hilario "Lalo" Perez, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. He was born July 28, 1929, in Beeville, Texas. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for an oil company and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gerardo Xavier Perez.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda; one daughter, Anna Smith-Perez of Las Vegas; three sons, Hector Perez of Las Vegas, Hilario Perez III of Oxnard, Calif., and Joseph Perez of Logandale; one sister, Lamar Martinez of Hebronsville, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Edgar D. Rogers

Edgar D. Rogers, 86, of Pahrump died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 23, 1916, in Calvin, N.D. A resident for 4 1/2 years, he was a minister and World War II Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie L.; one son, Wayne Rogers of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Mary Jo Gonzales of Olympia, Wash.; one sister, Elizabeth Rogers of Wenatchee, Wash.; one brother, John C. Rogers of Yakima, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Dominic D.J. Russell

Dominic D.J. Russell, 11 weeks, of Laughlin died Thursday in Laughlin. He was born Nov. 22, 2002, in Bullhead City, Ariz.

He is survived by his parents, Ted and Sherry Russell, and two brothers, Anthony Russell and Isaac Russell, all of Laughlin. one sister, Brianna Blancett of Arizona; and his grandparents, Jimmy and Sherryl Blancett of Arizona and Fran Russell of San Diego.

Hermine Smookler

Hermine Smookler, 76, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Emmering, Germany. A resident for 3 1/2 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Edward L.; four sons, Charles L. Smookler of Santa Ana, Calif., Robert H. Smookler of San Mateo, Calif., David R. Smookler of Brentwood, Calif., and Anthony J. Smookler of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and one grandchild.

Joseph Stankiewicz, 79, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born March 29, 1923, in West Haven, Conn. A resident for three years, he was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his wife, Concetta Esposito Carotenuto; two daughters, Pearl Ann Basta of Nevada and Priscilla Angelo of Connecticut; three sons, Paul Stankiewicz, Peter Stankiewicz and Philip Stankiewicz, and one sister, Jean Gumkowski, all of Connecticut; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road. Burial will be private.

Margaret Colleen Starley

Margaret Colleen Starley, 65, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born July 31, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho. A resident for 16 years, she was a senior law enforcement support technician and a member of the Police Protective Association Civilian Employee Union.

She is survived by her husband, John R.; four daughters, Pamela Starley, Kristen Clifford and Anne Frances Jensen, all of Salt Lake City, and Kimberly Starley of Ogden, Utah; one stepdaughter, Kathy Stewart of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three stepsons, John Starley Jr. and Sydney Starley, both of Ogden, and Richard Starley of Salt Lake City; one sister, Trudi Simpson of Pocatello, Idaho; one brother, Joe Wyant of Gainesville, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Jason Delvin Stastny

Jason Delvin Stastny, 29, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1973, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a forklift operator.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; one son, Darian Stastny of St. George, Utah; his parents, Karen L. and Gayle B. Stastny of Las Vegas; four sisters, Cindy Comstock of Woodland Hills, Utah, Pennie Barker of Sparks, Lori Bryan of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and Rebecca Covington of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Brian Stastny of Henderson and Nathan Stastny of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Saturday in the Redcoach LDS chapel. Julie Taylor-Neville, 45, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 20, 1957, in Tallahassee, Fla. A resident for 25 years, she was a marketing representative for an ink film company.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel Taylor and Andrew Neville, one daughter, Sarah Neville, and her mother, Patricia Cavanaugh, all of Las Vegas; her father, James D. Hawkins of Tallahassee, Fla.; and one brother, Jim Hawkins of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 6 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Armand Troncoso

Armand Troncoso, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born April 28, 1921, in Orange, Calif. A longtime resident, he was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Tony Troncoso of Las Vegas; two daughters, Ernestine Marin of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Alice Rigney of Pasadena, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Virginia M. 'Little Billie' Ulrich

Virginia M. "Little Billie" Ulrich, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Massillon, Ohio. A resident for 57 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Downing of Las Vegas.

George Buckmaster Whitfield Jr.

George Buckmaster Whitfield Jr., 79, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 4, 1923, in Newark, N.J. A resident for 10 years, he was a chemist and microbiologist.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; one son, George Buckmaster Whitfield III of Jakarta, Indonesia; two daughters, Carol Lesiow of Richland, Mich., and Ann Rushevics of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; one brother, Robert Whitfield of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
