A law firm that counts former Sen. Richard Bryan among its attorneys will be North Las Vegas' lobbyist in Washington for another year.
The City Council on Wednesday voted 4-0 to renew the contract with Lionel, Sawyer and Collins, which is worth $10,000 a month, plus up to $5,000 a month for expenses.
Before the vote, City Manager Kurt Fritsch listed some of the ways the firm has helped North Las Vegas secure federal assistance during its first year working for the city. The federal funding Fritsch listed included $1 million to study the widening of part of Interstate 15, $500,000 for the lower Las Vegas Wash, and $450,000 for neighborhood redevelopment.
Mayor Michael Montandon said the firm helped with a federal lands bill that will make another 8,300 acres of federally owned land in the northern part of the city available for sale and private development.
Councilwoman Shari Buck was absent from the Wednesday meeting.
