Lawsuits may be combined

Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 | 11:01 a.m.

A District Court judge moved today to consolidate at least four separate lawsuits against a Las Vegas businessman accused of engineering a multimillion-dollar construction loan scam.

District Judge Kathy Hardcastle postponed a scheduled hearing on a lawsuit filed by the estate of the late Arvis Forrest against businessman William Rick.

Forrest, a self-made Boulder City multimillionaire who died last month, allegedly lost an estimated $25 million in investments made with Rick, owner of Ken's Construction Control at 3233 W. Charleston Blvd.

Hardcastle said Forrest's lawsuit and at least three others filed by investors against Rick should be combined into one case. A new hearing was set for March 6.

Rick said last week that the matter is being taken up with local title companies. His attorney, Richard Young, also said last week that Rick was not a party to the alleged scheme.
