A Las Vegas man facing charges of drunken driving resulting in the death of a semipro hockey player was indicted by a Clark County grand jury Wednesday.
Michael Hickey, 29, is facing charges of DUI resulting in death, felony reckless driving and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the January hit-and-run accident that killed Justin Dale Kolisnek near Texas Station.
Hickey, who is not in custody, is scheduled to appear in court on March 4. If convicted, Hickey could face a prison term of between two and 20 years and a maximum fine of $5,000.
Kolisnek, a player with the Las Vegas Royals of the Xtreme Hockey League, was helping a friend push his car, which had run out of gas, on North Rancho Drive on Jan. 10, Metro Police said.
They were pushing the car in the left lane of the road with both doors open when a car hit Kolisnek from behind and slammed him into an open door, police said. Kolisnek died five days later at University Medical Center.
Kolisnek had moved to Las Vegas with his wife from Philadelphia five years ago. Kolisnek, a native Canadian, tried out for the Royals and made the team.
