Random musings on the busy Nevada prep scene...

1. Mitch Platt, C, Green Valley: The obvious and unquestioned choice.

2. Ron Dunlap, F, Green Valley: The key to Gators' state hopes.

3. Stanley Copeland, G, Las Vegas: Interchangeable with ...

4. Kenny Howard, G, Las Vegas: ... his backcourt partner.

5. Jamaal Smith, G, Foothill: See where Falcons go without him. Sunset

1. Chris Fuller, F, Cheyenne: The rock of state's best squad.

2. Garrett Schofield, G, Sierra Vista: Lions' heart and soul, a joy to watch.

3. Mark Hill, F, Bishop Gorman: Stepped up late in the season.

4. Lorrenzo Wade, G, Cheyenne: Ultimate weapon -- when he wants to be.

5. (tie) Robert Porter, G, and Kashif Watson, G, Bishop Gorman: Equally valuable in Gaels' backcourt.

You unnecessarily rile your fans, creating a terrible high school sports atmosphere. Whether you realize it or not, parents will often take your cue to assess how the game is being called.

You unnecessarily stir up your players, who need you to tell them to keep their head when a bad call happens. When they see you glaring at the nearest person in stripes, they too feel enabled to be agitated.

Please, cut it out.

Canada registered 21 goals and eight assists for the Bulldogs. He helped lead Centennial to the Sunset Region Tournament title and a runner-up finish in the 4A State Tournament.

"The success of our team is directly related to the efforts of Tyler," Centennial coach Rick Kazee said.

Sobrero averaged an amazing 1.6 goals per game over her four-year career at Chaparral, and she led the Cowboys to the semifinals of the Sunrise Region playoffs this season.

"Cortney exemplifies hard work and dedication as a student-athlete," Chaparral coach Dan Schell said.

Also, Bishop Gorman's Mike Zaher earned NSCAA/adidas Boys All-American honors in the U-17 age group. Zaher is one of just 18 boys across the country to receive the prestigious honor, and he is the only recipient from Nevada.
