A Las Vegas woman was arrested Sunday in connection with the beating and robbery of a 98-year-old woman.

The victim was tied up and beaten in her home Friday morning, and about $2,000 and some belongings were stolen, Lt. Ted Snodgrass of Metro's robbery section said.

Officers arrived at the victim's downtown home within five minutes and she was taken to a local hospital, where she is recovering. Officers of Metro's Downtown Area Command were given a description of the suspect, who was acquainted with the victim.

Sharon Denise Williams, 38, was arrested Sunday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder of a victim over 65, robbery of a victim over 65, first-degree kidnapping of a victim over 65 and burglary of a victim over 65.

Snodgrass said the victim had befriended Williams over the past few months and had given her food and money.

Officers recovered $1,600 of the victim's money, along with other property Williams had allegedly stolen from her, Snodgrass said.
