Volunteers in line for special awards
Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 | 8:31 a.m.
The Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada is now accepting nominations for Community Enrichment Awards for outstanding volunteer service.
Awards will be given in five categories: education, group, individual adult, senior and youth.
Nominations may be submitted by any individual, group or organization. Religious, fraternal or professional groups may nominate their members so long as the beneficiaries of their services are not limited to their membership. Any volunteer performing service in Southern Nevada is eligible for an award.
Two finalists and one winner in each category will be selected by a panel of community leaders. Each winner receives $1,000 for the organization where he or she volunteers; each finalist receives $250. Youth winners receive a $500 donation for their charity of choice, along with a $500 scholarship for higher education.
The awards will be presented at a luncheon, sponsored by MGM MIRAGE, on May 1 at the Stardust hotel.
To obtain nomination forms and instructions, contact the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada, 3075 E. Flamingo Road, Suite 100A, Las Vegas, NV 89121; telephone: 892-2321; e-mail: volunteernevada@yahoo.com; or log on to www.volunteercentersn.org.
