SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- A bill to require the registration and taxation of off-road vehicles, including dirt bikes and dune buggies, was introduced in the Senate Thursday.
Sen. Mike McGinness, R-Fallon, said Senate Bill 117 is aimed at getting more revenue for the state. He said he had no idea how many of these vehicles are being operated in Nevada.
State Department of Motor Vehicles officials also said they have no estimate on the number of these vehicles.
Snowmobiles and personal watercraft would be affected by the bill, but not boats.
The bill was referred to the Transportation Committee.
