SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- A bill to allow tenants a speedy judgment against landlords who have illegally locked them out was introduced in the Senate.
Senate Bill 128, which was requested by the Nevada Judges Association, would permit tenants to gain immediate possession of the premises by filing a verified complaint that indicated unlawful removal.
The bill was introduced by the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which Sen. Maurice Washington, D-Sparks, is vice chairman.
Washington, who was recently evicted from his office in Sparks for not paying rent, said it was not his bill.
The details concerning Washington's eviction are in dispute.
