Vegas gains third weekly London flight

Increased demand has prompted Virgin Atlantic Airways to add a third weekly nonstop round trip between London and Las Vegas.
The London-based airline said it would begin the new flights between London's Gatwick International Airport and McCarran International on Sept. 2.
Virgin Atlantic uses Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets configured to hold 439 passengers in three classes on the route.
The new flights will operate on Tuesdays. From Sept. 2 to Oct. 21, the flight will leave Las Vegas at 3 p.m., arriving in London at 8:50, Wednesday morning. From Oct. 28 through March 2004, the flight will leave Las Vegas at 4:30 p.m., arriving in London at 10:20 a.m. the next day.
From Sept. 2 to Oct. 21, the new flight will leave at 9:45 a.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 12:30 p.m., and from Oct. 28 through March 2004, it will leave at 11:15 a.m., arriving at 2 p.m.
Since inaugurating service between London and Las Vegas in June 2000, Virgin Atlantic has carried about 250,000 people on the route.
