ATLANTA -- Cox Communications Inc. said Wednesday it swung to a fourth-quarter profit because of strong gains in its high-speed Internet and digital telephone services.
The nation's fifth-largest cable operator -- and the main cable provider in Las Vegas -- reported net income of $179.6 million, or 28 cents a share, for the fourth quarter, compared with a loss of $105.2 million, or 18 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 18 percent to $1.34 billion from $1.13 billion.
The Atlanta-based company's residential high-speed data and telephone services saw revenue leap 44 percent and 53 percent, respectively.
