Jose Roberto Aguirre

Jose Roberto Aguirre, 33, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 15, 1969, in San Salvador, El Salvador. A resident for 27 years, he was a restaurant captain.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer H.; one daughter, Alexa B. Mateos, one son, Ari M. Aguirre, his mother, Isabel Aguirre, his father, Martin J. Ramis, and one brother, Kenny Ramis, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. service and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday followed by a 2 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Elisa B. Andrews

Elisa B. Andrews, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born April 30, 1927, in Manila, Philippines. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Vern; four sons, Luis, Alfredo and Danilo, all of Oregon, and Vern Jr. of California; five daughters, Juvy of Las Vegas, Catalina of California, Grace of Europe, Olivia of the Philippines and Julie of Oregon; one brother, Carlos of Arizona; one sister, Laura of the Philippines; and 20 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Ruth Boland

Ruth Boland, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born July 20, 1912, in Brigham, Utah. A resident for 44 years, she was a retired federal government clerk.

She is survived by her husband, Hays; two daughters, Myrna Doppe and Phyllis Patton, and one son, Kent Harman, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Alice Lee of Las Vegas and Sybil Packer of Utah; two brothers, Loyal Hansen of Idaho and Ted Hansen of Florida; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is private. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Rosie Hawkins

Rosie Hawkins, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 10, 1913, in Louisiana. A resident for 53 years, she was a cook.

She is survived by one son, Clarence Hawkins, and three daughters, Essie Lee Walker, Bessie Coffield and Verlie M. Ross, all of Las Vegas; and one sister, Leola Riley of California.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1100 N. D St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Marjorie Ivary

Marjorie Ivary, 91, of Ferndale, Wash., died Monday in Ferndale. A former Henderson resident, she was born April 23, 1911, in Cornwall, N.Y. She and her late husband, John, started Henderson's first nursery, Ivary's Gardens. She was appointed to the Nevada State Landscape Board by Gov. Mike O'Callaghan, worked at the Southern Nevada Museum, was Woman of the Year and Business Woman of the Year, and was a member of the Mount Baker Gem and Mineral Club.

She is survived by two sons, John of Ferndale and Wayne of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Ferndale. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Carol Ann Kelts

Carol Ann Kelts, 61, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Berkeley, Calif. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker, a hospital volunteer, a Cub Scout trainer leader, a genealogy worker and a former Sunday school and primary worker.

She is survived by her husband, Roland W.; two sons, Anthony G. Kelts of Tucson and Gordon H. Kelts of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cindy Evans of Springfield, Ore.; her mother, Alice Avery of Tucson; three sisters, Mary Beth Ross of Tucson, Linda Sue Dugan of San Pablo, Calif., and Nancy Tranquillitsky of Oakland, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS Relief Society Room at Tropicana and Burnham avenues. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Barbara Kubiak

Barbara Kubiak, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Grouse Creek, Utah. A resident for 60 years, she was a retired Clark County School District teacher of more than 33 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Leona Blanthorn, and one sister, Wanda Blanthorn, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Bryan Blanthorn of Grouse Creek, Chester Blanthorn of Orem, Utah, and Boyd Blanthorn of Stansbury Park, Utah; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Alice Mae Lessick

Alice Mae Lessick, 78, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Chicago. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired medical records clerk and a World War II Navy veteran.

She is survived by four sisters, June May of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Eileen Gloria Lessick of Chicago, Ardeen Morrison of Pahrump and Dorothy M. Lessick of Las Vegas; and one brother, Donald Lessick of Huntington Beach, Calif.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Saul Levy

Saul Levy, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 7, 1921, in Hartford, Conn. A resident for seven years, he was a senior respiratory care specialist for a medical company.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Ann Williamson of Cash, Texas, and Maddy Kassof of San Rafael, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Ronni VanGorden of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Judi Nasta of Las Vegas; one sister, Esta Walters of Roseville, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

John H. Lucey

John H. Lucey, 70, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Oregon. A resident for nine years, he was a sales representative in the cement industry.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; five sons, Michael Lucey and Jerry Lucey, both of Arizona, Daryl Smith of California and Dana Smith and Daniel Smith, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Linda Rollinger of Oregon, Gemma Hughbanks of Texas and Debra Coleman of Oregon; one sister, Aldine Clement of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-5 p.m. Thursday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Ethel McAnally

Ethel McAnally, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Henderson. She was born April 20, 1923, in Hurricane, Utah. A lifelong resident of Southern Nevada, she was a bookkeeper.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Curtis A.; three daughters, Tari Kay Peterson, Carol Porter and Zina Jo McAnally, all of Henderson; one son, William Curtis McAnally of Tacoma, Wash.; one brother, Norman K. Barnum of Ogden, Utah; one sister, Zina Barnum of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the LDS Cholla St. Ward, Henderson. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Virginia S. Means

Virginia S. Means, 90, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born April 10, 1912, in Denver. A resident for 22 years, she was a retired change person.

She is survived by one son, James Means of Las Vegas; one stepson, Robert Means of Auburn, Calif.; and two sisters, Pearl M. Cummings of Las Vegas and Jill Lind of Boca Raton, Fla.

Claire Jeanne Parigan

Claire Jeanne Parigan, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 20, 1935, in West Warwick, R.I. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired restaurant hostess.

She is survived by four daughters, Debra LaMonda of Rathdrum, Idaho, Diane L. Martucci of Canyon Country, Calif., Jody Weltz of Pleasanton, Calif., and Julie Ellis of Bali, Indonesia; her mother, Vera R. Provencher, and one sister, Lorraine De Las Reyes, both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Darwin Pilger

Darwin Pilger, 60, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 26, 1942, in Pilger, Neb. A resident for 30 years, he was founder, owner and operator of D&G Oil Co., a charter member and past president of the Lions Club in Henderson, past president of Intermountain Oil Marketers in Southern Nevada, a member of the Elks, Las Vegas Country Club and Stallion Mountain Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle; one daughter, Jessica Pilger of San Diego; his mother, Marie Pilger of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Mareen Wendland of Wisconsin, Beverly Dockendorf of Las Vegas and Trudi Koziol of Chicago.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

William Allen Register

William Allen Register, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Cleveland. A resident for 34 years, he worked in housekeeping at a local hotel and was a deacon at True Love Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; three sisters, Jewell Jones and Clara Tatum, both of Cleveland and Barbara Moore of Detroit.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 N. H St. Burial will be private. An out-of-state memorial service will be held in Cleveland. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling local arrangements.

Kenneth D. Sparks

Kenneth D. Sparks, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Bellingham, Wash. A resident for 43 years, he was a retired insurance company owner, a member of the Las Vegas Rotary Club and past president of the Salvation Army advisory board.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Katherine Lang of Las Vegas and Tricia Sparks of San Diego; one son, Robert Kenneth Sparks of Las Vegas; one brother, Dennis Sparks of Bellingham; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled two hours prior to a 2:30 p.m. service Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

James E. Tilford

James E. Tilford, 83, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born March 28, 1919, in Mexico, Mo. A resident for one year, he was a glazier, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a founding member of the Evanston and Chicago Gun Club and the Elite Bachelor and Benedict Social Club, both of Evanston.

He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Richmond of Las Vegas and Deborah Tilford-Allen of Missouri; one brother, Wallace Tilford of Texas; one sister, Sallie Kennedy of Massachusetts; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11:20 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Vernon Wayne Tillmon Sr.

Vernon Wayne Tillmon Sr., 50, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born April 20, 1952, in Macon, Ga. A resident for 31 years, he was a vice president of Culinary Local 226, a member of the National Bowling Association and Southern Nevada Pop Warner Association.

He is survived by his wife, Larnell; one son, Vernon Tillmon Jr. of Las Vegas; and one sister, Ametha Gail Folson of Wrightsville, Ga.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave.

Rose Marie Vertula

Rose Marie Vertula, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local convalescent hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1920, in New Canaan, Conn. A resident for 13 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Rose Mary Della Ratta of Las Vegas; one son, Fred Chiappetta of Alhambra, Calif.; one sister, Margaret Coppola of Dallas; one brother, George Vertula of Stamford, Conn.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Feb. 19 in Guardian Angel Cathedral, 302 E. Desert Inn Road. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Esther Elizabeth Walko

Esther Elizabeth Walko, 82, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 7, 1921. in Pittsburgh. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired federal government service representative.

She is survived by one stepson, Gregory Walko of Ambridge, Pa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Joyce Elaine Geisendorf, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 17, 1923, in Oklahoma City. A resident for 34 years, she worked for Century Realty, was president of Women in Communication, a member of GLVR and a secretary for Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Geisendorf of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 3 p.m. services Thursday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
