Letter: Orange means be more alert
Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 | 8:44 a.m.
Americans are extremely confused by this appointed administration's color-chart, scare-tactic terror warnings. This is very understandable.
Let's see now, Attorney General John Ashcroft has again told us that the latest President George Bush has again ordered all of us to be aware that the terror color chart has just turned to orange from its previous yellow color.
Ashcroft says this means that we are all to be "very alert."
When the nitwit inventor of this color chart, Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge, was asked on C-Span what the difference was between yellow and orange warnings, he intelligently replied they both meant for us to "be alert" at all times. But because it is now orange, he says we should be even "more alert."
Since Ridge was unable to specify how to accomplish this, does this mean we should revert to the ultra right-wing Republicans' widely known paranoid habit of checking under our beds for communists, or what?
There is no doubt -- the frightening knowledge that our country is rapidly dumbing down can be attributed to a very obvious source -- that incompetents presently occupy our White House.
Loyal patriotic Americans are in desperate need of the proverbial knight on a white horse to rescue our country from these bumbling, unelected, war-mongering pathetic politicians.
But since he is nowhere in sight, and this Bush gang still has almost two more years in office, may heaven help us all.
