Joyce McMinn Beckett
Joyce McMinn Beckett, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 1, 1919, in Drew, Miss. A Nevada resident for 60 years and a Las Vegas resident for 51 years, she was a blackjack dealer in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area in the 1940s, a retired co-owner of R.C. Beckett Construction, first president of Las Vegas Branch of Women in Construction and worked for Lockheed Aircraft during World War II.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; one daughter, Barbara Givens, and one son, Stephen Hampton, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, LaVerne Wilson of Chico, Calif., and Anita McMinn of Medina, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Richard A. Carter
Richard A. Carter, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Gardena, Calif. A resident for more than 45 years, he was a real estate broker, a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Board of Realtors.
He is survived by two daughters, Dawn Christensen and Karen Miller, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Thomas Carter of Las Vegas and Jerry Carter of Newport Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
D'Amound Li-Tray Douglas
D'Amound Li-Tray Douglas, 8 months, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 29, 2002, in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his father, Dwayne; his mother, Nacola Douglas, and one sister, Dinesty Douglas, both of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled at noon Tuesday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
June H. Fortezzo
June H. Fortezzo, 79, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa. A resident for nine years, she was a retired secretary.
She is survived by two sons, Warren Fortezzo of Las Vegas and Jeff Fortezzo of Montgomery, Texas; one brother, Bill Grother of Eldridge, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is assisting with private services.
Pleasant Keahey
Pleasant Keahey, 67, of Laughlin died Saturday in Laughlin. He was born Jan. 31, 1936, in North Carolina. A resident for eight years, he was a drilling and blasting supervisor for Peabody Coal Co.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Geoff Keahey and Mark Keahey, both of Arizona; two daughters, Amy Mayhew of Colorado and Debra Schanaman of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Rufus R. Lindsey
Rufus R. Lindsey, 50, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 30, 1952. A resident for 19 years, he worked at Studio 1 Barbershop and Da Spot.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; three daughters, Felissa Lindsey, Debbie M. Lindsay and Nicole Lindsey, and three sons, Scottie Lindsey, Rufus R. Lindsey Jr. and Kenny Lindsey, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Marvin Lindsey of Heidelberg, Miss., and Joseph Lindsey of Bayspring, Miss.; two sisters, Joyce Thompson of Gulfport, Miss., and Beverely Moore of Houston; and one grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements. Services and burial will be in Mississippi.
Peter Nagy
Peter Nagy, 60, of Las Vegas and Encino, Calif., died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1942, in Budapest, Hungary. A resident for nine years, he was a professional bridge player, a member of the American Contract Bridge League and was a 1967 graduate of Princeton University.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hay; one son, David Nagy of Encino; and his uncle, Tomi Gural of New York state.
Services were schekduled at noon today in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.
The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103; Holocaust Survivors Group or the Canadian Bridge Federation Charity Foundation.
Barbara W. Rammer
Barbara W. Rammer, 83, of Pahrump died Friday in Pahrump. She was born June 29, 1919, in Watts, Calif. A resident for 52 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Swede; two daughters, Judy McLain and Kitty Bryan, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Jerry Rammer of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Scot Rammer of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be private. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
Ben Schuster
Ben Schuster, 89, of Magalia, Calif., died Wednesday in Magalia. He was born March 25, 1913, in Minsk, Russia. A former Las Vegas resident for 30 years, he was a stand-up comic in the 1930s and 1940s and appeared on "Carefree Corral," televised in 1954, was a jeweler in the late '50s and owned Diamond Jewelers in Azusa, Calif., and was a cashier for his brother-in-law, Harry "Coon" Rosen (a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame for softball) at jai-alai games at the old MGM Grand.
He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Schuster Davis; one brother, Paul Sutton; and one grandson.
Services were in California under the direction of Newton-Bracewell Mortuary, Magalia.
Inell Thomas
Inell Thomas, 61, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born May 7, 1941, in Meridian, Miss. A resident for eight years, she was a retired teacher's aide at a private school.
She is survived by one daughter, Genette Jones of Las Vegas; and one sister, Lillie Pruitt of Los Angeles.
Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by graveside services in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.
