Letter: Mayor popular with masses who don’t think
Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 | 9:44 a.m.
Jon Ralston's Feb. 2 column, "Lousy mayor fools the masses," was so on target about what the real problem is. The cause is that a non-intellectual and amoralist (not immoralist) population is the just the kind of electorate that would vote into political office someone of His Honor's "talents."
Spending years turning known hoodlums back onto the streets in the name of defending the Constitution is appalling. And now that he's in office, his remarkable behavior nets him, not the scorn he deserves, but a 90 percent popularity rating!
Now that's even more appalling but a true indicator of the lack of rational thought of the electorate: the dumbing down of America is just about complete. Soon the majority of voters will be non- rational, non-intellectual morons who stare blankly into the TV watching reality shows, afraid to take a stand on anything except who will next be voted off the island, incapable of reasoned thought.
For as far as the philosophical destruction has gone under Generation X, so it shall be increased an order of magnitude as Generation Y (should have been why?) takes over.
Much scarier than Saddam could ever be!
