SHYON CLARK
School: Desert Pines
Class: Senior
Sport: Basketball
Last week: After a season of struggles, Desert Pines is starting to look like the dangerous team many expected, with Clark spearheading the resurgence. The Jaguars first knocked off division-leading Las Vegas, 54-49, Wednesday night behind a 14-point effort from the senior forward in a comeback win. Desert Pines then upended Chaparral, 82-42, as Clark put forward a 25-point showing at home. Desert Pines and Las Vegas sit atop the Northeast Division at 4-2. The Jaguars take on Rancho Friday.
RA CHAUNA RANDLE
School: Western
Class: Junior
Sport: Basketball
Last week: The Warriors came up with their finest week of the season, downing both of their main Southwest Division competitors in just three days. Randle played a central part in both Western victories. In the Warriors' 61-53 triumph over Bonanza, Randle scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Western's master stroke came Friday, in a 43-38 upset at Bishop Gorman in which Randle came up with 15 points and nine rebounds. Western sits tied with Gorman for the top spot in the Southwest, and the Warriors face Clark Friday.
