Applications ready for NLV kids project
North Las Vegas and the North Las Vegas Boys and Girls Club are accepting applications for Kids Organized to Improve Neighborhood Streets, a program that begins on March 3.
Children interested in participating can pick up an application at the North Las Vegas Boys and Girls Club, city recreation centers, school counselors office or the North Las Vegas Crime Prevention Division.
Participants must be between the ages of 12 to 17 years, and must reside within North Las Vegas.
The deadline for applications is at 5 p.m. Feb. 13.
Skatepark to host jam competition
Registration for the Vegas AM Jam competition, a four-hour event will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Winchester Skatepark, 3130 McLeod Drive, followed by the competition at 10 a.m.
The group's efforts are designed to reduce inappropriate behavior and to promote safety. Additionally, the coalition aims to educate the community on skate park rules and regulations by providing information and positive influences.
Participation is $10 per category. The public is invited to watch the event at nor charge. Attendees will be able to purchase food and drinks, as well as enjoy various booths and stage acts.

Blood donors get discounted cabin
United Blood Services and Mount Charleston Lodge are teaming up for their third annual blood drive now through Feb. 28 at all United Blood Services Donor Centers.
All United Blood Services donors will receive a $50 gift certificate toward Mount Charleston Lodge weekday cabin rates that is valid through July 31.
