BERKELEY, Calif. -- UNLV scored seven runs on only two hits in the fifth inning en route to a 10-4 victory over California on Sunday at Evans Diamond.
UNLV (2-1) captured the third game of the series behind the pitching of junior David Seccombe and a disastrous fifth inning for the Cal pitching staff. Seccombe went five innings with two hits, one run, two walks and eight strikeouts.
Cal starter Brent Hale took the loss. He worked 4 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on eight hits.
UNLV's Andrew D'Angelo went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, that included a two-run homer in the third.
Patrick Dobson finished 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Brent Johnson finished the three-game series 6-for-12 with three doubles.
UNLV hosts College of Charleston in a thee-game series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. That contest begins a nine-game home stand for the Rebels.
