Park Place legal officer resigns

Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 | 11:17 a.m.

Park Place Entertainment Corp.'s Deputy General Counsel Bernard DeLury will replace former Chief Legal Officer Kim Sinatra, who has resigned for personal reasons, the company said Friday.

DeLury was most recently responsible for Park Place's regulatory compliance and legal operations. Previously, he was general counsel for the company's casino resorts in New Jersey, Mississippi, Indiana, Louisiana and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Nova Scotia.

DeLury has worked for Park Place and its predecessor companies since 1990 following his discharge from the U.S. Navy.

A call to Sinatra's office was referred to Park Place spokesman Robert Stewart.

Stewart declined to elaborate on the reasons for Sinatra's departure.

Sinatra worked at the same law firm as former Park Place Chief Executive Tom Gallagher when he was a law partner representing entertainment mogul Merv Griffin. Gallagher, who resigned under pressure in November, was responsible for Sinatra's appointment to Park Place.

Sinatra led the company's effort to develop a casino in the Catskill Mountains in New York state in partnership with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.

"That work will continue interrupted," Wallace Barr, Park Place's chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Bernie DeLury is a seasoned and skilled gaming attorney who is well acquainted with the many complex legal, regulatory and political issues that face our company and our industry," Barr said.
