Charlie Cooper
Charlie Cooper, 80, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for 52 years, he was born in Somerset, La.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Mae; one son, Charlie Cooper Jr. of Sacramento; two daughters, Georgia Ann and Margaret, three brothers, James Cooper Sr., Ennis Cooper Jr. and Joe Cooper, and one sister, Rosie Wicsk, all of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Tuesday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Arvis C. Forrest
Arvis C. Forrest, 87, of Boulder City died Saturday in Boulder City. He was born March 13, 1915, Arkansas. A resident for 50 years, she was a real estate investor, a member of Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, Boulder City Masonic Lodge, Boulder City Rotary Club, owned a concession at Lake Mead and built and lived in Gingerwood Mobile Home Park.
He is survived by two daughters, Iris Corley of Henderson and Sharon Davis of Cottage Grove, Ore.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Jack W. Newberg
Jack W. Newberg, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born June 17, 1923, in New York City. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired mechanical engraver for a sheet metal company, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and B'nai B'rith.
He is survived by his wife, Abbie; one daughter, Lynda Carlson; three sons, Steven Newberg, Bruce Newberg and David Newberg; one sister, Margie Selega; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Ken Oh
Ken Oh, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A contractor, he was born Feb. 9, 1940, in Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Moon Ja Oh; and one son, Charles Oh.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Marvin Carlin Shook
Marvin Carlin Shook, 76, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Hermiston, Ore. A resident for 40 years, he was a drummer who worked in various local clubs, a retired coordinator for the Nevada State AFL-CIO, a Korean War National Guard veteran and a member of Musicians Local 359.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; one daughter, Ginger Bybee of Las Vegas; and one sister, Barbara Hurdel of Denver.
Services will be in Denver. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Marvin 'Bud' Smith
Marvin "Bud" Smith, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born June 4, 1923, in Homer, La. A resident for six months, he was a retired railroad engineer, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Inglewood, Calif., and Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A.; one son, Marvin G. Smith of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one daughter, Donna K. Clough of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Jesus Torres
Jesus Torres, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 19, 1925, in Mexico. A resident for 10 years, he was a laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; three daughters, Gloria, Cilvia and Lety, and four sons, Oscar, Luiz, Jesus and Javier, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Josefa Torres of Mexico; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Monday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Bunkers Mortuary, is handling arrangements.
Vivian Veronica Ubriaco
Vivian Veronica Ubriaco, 70, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for 18 years, she was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Welland, Ontario.
She is survived by five sons, Leonard Ubriaco, Richard Ubriaco and John Ubriaco, all of Las Vegas, Randall Ubriaco of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Vincent Ubriaco of Dripping Springs, Texas; two daughters, Sandra Hammargren and Cheryl LeTourneau, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Mary Roberts of Welland; two brothers, Jerry Wakunick of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Stephen Wakunick of Welland; two sisters, Sylvia Zabaldo and Evelyn D'Amico, both of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today and noon until 1 p.m. services Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
James A. 'Dink' Williams
James A. "Dink" Williams, 88, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Mount Calm, Texas. A resident for four months, he was a logger.
He is survived by four daughters, Millie Cunningham of Spokane, Wash., Jerri Newman of Maple Valley, Wash., and Irene Sheeley and Mary Fletcher, both of Las Vegas; his caregiver, Johnnie Bell-Manning; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services in Vandervort, Ark., are pending. Sunrise Cremation & Burial Society, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 5, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Danny Alan Wiser
Danny Alan Wiser, 54, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born March 14, 1948, in Hammond, Ill. A resident for four months, he was a project manager for Marnell-Corrao Associates Construction.
He is survived by his wife, Marietta; one son, John Wiser of Oregon City, Ore.; two daughters, Sherrie Jaffe of Phoenix and Samantha Wiser of Gresham, Ore.; one sister, Rosie Brundage of Woodburn, Ore.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
