Idaho goaltender Dan Ellis stopped all five shootout attempts and the Steelheads emerged with a 3-2 victory Tuesday against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Boise.

Amdro Vasilyev scored the only goal in the shootout after the teams played through regulation and an overtime period at 2-2.

The Wranglers (18-7-5), who remained atop the ECHL Pacific Division, got first-period goals from Chris Kenady, his ninth of the season, and Jason McBain, his seventh. Goalie Marc Magliarditi stopped 41 of 43 shots.

Idaho got goals from Jan Kopecky in the first period and Vasilyev in the second.

The two teams play at Boise again tonight beginning at 6:05.

Calderon buried

Former major-leaguer Ivan Calderon was buried in Loaiza, Puerto Rico, three days after he was shot and killed in a bar.

CART sale cleared

A bankruptcy judge in Indianapolis approved a plan that could clear the way for the sale next month of the CART racing series to a group of team owners.

Strahan adds to sacks

New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan had a half-sack added to his season statistics, upping his league-leading total to 18 1/2, after a review by the Elias Sports Bureau.
