Bernard J. Burkin Jr.
Bernard J. Burkin Jr., 61, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Detroit.
He is survived by his wife, Angelina; one son, Paul Burkin of Pahrump; and one brother, Frederick W. Burkin of Las Vegas.
Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling private arrangements.
Harold LeRoy Clark Jr.
Harold LeRoy Clark Jr., 70, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1933, in The Dalles, Ore. A resident for one year, he was a retired office manager for a food service company and a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; three daughters, Janet Gustafson of Granite Falls, Wash., Lorraine Sliger of Las Vegas and Shelly Haynes of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash.; two sons, Steven Clark and Thomas Clark, both of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to an 11 a.m. service Tuesday in the LDS Meadows II Ward, 3200 Mustang St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
James R. Cox
James R. Cox, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born June 9, 1927, in Lima, Ohio. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired general sales manager for a corrugated manufacturer, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, David Cox of Las Vegas and Alan Cox of Rocklin, Calif.; two sisters, Betty Heisser of Houston and Marjorie Rummel of Lima; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Roy E. Dyas
Roy E. Dyas, 65, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Los Angeles. A resident for seven years, he was a retired elevator technician.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Dan Kobylinski of Gaylord, Mich., and Jason Marchese of Las Vegas; five daughters, Diana Patzer of Phoenix and Michelle O'Dell, Tiffany Dyas, Punky Yanes and Destiny Dyas, all of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Tuesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Graveside services will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Helen Eng
Helen Eng, 97, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1906, in Canton, China. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired restaurateur.
She is survived by three sons, Frank Eng and Kent Eng, both of Las Vegas, and Richard Eng of Spruce Pine, N.C.; one daughter, Norma Tse of Southwest Ranches, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be in Florida.
Bonnie Evans
Bonnie Evans, 71, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. She was born July 24, 1932, in Nebraska. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Verne; two sons, Jim Henderson of Clovis, Calif., and Rod Henderson of Lancaster, Calif.
Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Salvador 'Chava' Gomez
Salvador "Chava" Gomez, 38, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 30, 1965, in Mexico. A resident for 14 years, he was a supervisor in the construction industry.
He is survived by his mother, Irma Gonzalez, two brothers, Gerardo Gomez and Juan Carlos Revere, and one daughter-in-law, Erika Muniz, all of Las Vegas.
Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
Gary Michael Grospitz
Gary Michael Grospitz, 66, of Boulder City died Friday in Boulder City. He was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Moberly, Mo. A resident for eight years, he was a retired engineer in the aerospace industry and a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; one son, Stephen Grospitz of Glendora, Calif.; two daughters, Lori Grospitz of Seattle and Adriana Lamb of San Dimas, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Paul A. Hayes
Paul A. Hayes, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Colorado. A resident for 30 years, he owned a printing company and was a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Paul M. Hayes, William Alan Weathers and John E. Weathers; three brothers, Cliff Clemens, Tommy Hayes and Billy Hayes; three sisters, Nancy, Bertha and Pat; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11:20 a.m. Jan. 5 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Willie M. Hollingsworth
Willie M. Hollingsworth, 72, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born May 21, 1931, in Mabelvale, Ark. A resident for 37 years, she was a retired executive secretary for the federal government, past secretary of National Association Retired Federal Employees and a volunteer of Senior Friends in Henderson.
She is survived by three sisters, Virgie Sanders of Bedford, Texas, Velma Carolyn Marsh of Anna, Texas, and Benda Shere of Mabelvale; and six brothers, Clifton Morehart of Mabelvale, Herbert Morehart of Hot Springs, Ark., Eugene Morehart of Bryant, Ark., Calvin Morehart of Little Rock, Ark., Wesley Morehart of North Little Rock, Ark., and Edwin Morehart of Benton, Ark.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Sylvia Landun-Sassoon, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Montreal, Quebec. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker and a member of B'nai B'rith.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; and one daughter, Maris Everakes of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Martinez Orrellana; two sons, Victor Martinez and Martin A. Martinez; two daughters, Bertha Martinez and Rhina Martinez Rodriguez; five brothers, Raul Moran, Fernando Moran, Ricardo Moran, Salvadore Moran and Manuel Moran; three sisters, Aida Moran, Elizabeth Moran and Beatrice Moran; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 10:30 a.m. until a 12:30 p.m. chapel service Tuesday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Peggy Joyce Oschman
Peggy Joyce Oschman, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Oklahoma. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired real estate agent.
She is survived by one son, Charles E. Hooper Jr.; one daughter, Candance Lee Carmichael; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Shirley Faye Robinette
Shirley Faye Robinette, 68, of Las Vegas died Dec. 19 in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Illinois. A resident for 30 years, she was a retired nurse.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Sexson, Jerry and Mike; three daughters, Mickey, Belinda and Brenda; one sister, Sharon; and numerous grandchildren.

Marilyn Sackener, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired medical office manager.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley; one son, Keith Sackener, and one daughter, Deborah Safir, both of Los Angeles; and two sisters, Ruby Robinson of Las Vegas and Michele Nemchin of Surprise, Ariz.
Visitation was scheduled noon-1 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by graveside services at Palm-Eastern. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, handling arrangements.
Thelma R. Shields
Thelma R. Shields, 86, of North Las Vegas died Dec. 22 in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Sharpsburg, Iowa. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, George; two daughters, Barbara Boldt of Hermantown, Minn., and Nancy Holden of Key West, Fla.; one son, Phillip Chitko of Minneapolis; one sister, Larene of Texas; three brothers, Lyle Pfander of Colorado, William Pfander of Newton, Iowa, and Robert Pfander of California; and six grandchildren.
Services were scheduled at 9 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.
Verlin D. Sivley Jr.
Verlin D. Sivley Jr., 75, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born July 4, 1928, in Peoria, Ill. A resident for six years, he was a retired postmaster in Northridge, Calif., and a World War II and Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan Sullivan of Sherwood, Ore.; one son, Scott Sivley of Santa Clarita, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mildred A. Smith, 71, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Nebraska. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired systems analyst.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; one son, Rick; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Virginia R. Wilber
Virginia R. Wilber, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. She was born July 12, 1922, in Oklahoma. A resident for 16 years, she was a retired hairdresser.
She is survived by one son, Greg Wilber of Redding, Calif.; two daughters, Robbin Ward of Las Vegas and Susan Wilber of Redding; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Zadie Lee Williams
Zadie Lee Williams, 57, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born June 4, 1946, in Norfolk, Va. A resident for four years, she was a recreation specialist for city government.
She is survived by her husband, David; two daughters, Tarona Williams of Chesapeake, Va., and Dovia Williams of Henderson; two brothers; and three sisters.
