Hotel room at Venetian damaged by blaze
Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 | 9:24 a.m.
One hotel room of The Venetian was damaged by fire and five others by smoke this morning in an apparent construction-related blaze in one of the Strip resort's towers, Clark County Fire Department and hotel officials said.
The fire in a wall prompted evacuation of the ninth and 10th floors of the one tower, hotel spokeswoman Candace Bailey said.
The fire was reported at 6:18 a.m., the Clark County Fire Department said. Sprinklers doused the blaze and firefighters checked to make sure there were no additional conditions that could respark it.
The fire was believed to have been accidentally started by a construction crew.
No injuries were reported. Bailey said guests were able to return to their rooms by 7 a.m.
