Basketball camp planned for kids
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Henderson Holiday Hoop Camp beginning 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Dec. 31 at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.
The three-day instructional camp is designed to enhance young players' basketball skills, sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game. Lectures, clinics and games focus on the essential elements of the sport, including offensive and defensive skills, shooting, passing, ball handling and rebounding.
Lower 8-foot hoops will be available for younger players.
Registration is $60 per youth (1-8), and includes a camp shirt. Call 267-5700.
Arts Council seeks consultants
The Nevada Arts Council is recruiting technical consultants for art and cultural nonprofit organizations throughout the state.
The council's Nevada Circuit Riders initiative will train common consulting standards, enabling participants to help organizations in 12 areas of expertise including financial management, organization and board development, strategic planning to special events, fundraising, marketing and promotions.
Applications are due on Jan. 15 and are available on the Department of Cultural Affairs website (www.NevadaCulture.org).
