The Bureau of Land Management in Nevada is accepting applications for seasonal firefighting positions throughout the state. Applications must be submitted no later than Jan. 16 to receive first consideration in the hiring process.
Temporary seasonal positions will be filled as engine, helitack and hotshot crew members, as well as aircraft ramp personnel and dispatchers stationed at 24 fire stations throughout the state.
Applications for firefighting and dispatch positions must be submitted using the BLM's automated application system, called FIRES, available online (www.firejobs.doi.gov).
Selected applicants must complete a pre-employment drug screening and physical examination prior to appointment, and are subject to random drug screen testing during their period of employment. Those selected for primary firefighter positions must also pass the "pack test" after entering on duty. The test consists of a three-mile walk over flat terrain carrying a 45-pound pack in 45 minutes or less.
Those interested in non-fire seasonal positions can apply online at: http://jobs.quickhire.com/scripts.blm.exe.
