Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath will apologize to the ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber for his bizarre behavior during an interview Saturday night, according to New York Jets spokesman Ron Colangelo.
Namath and Kolber were both traveling Monday, but Namath plans to call her, Colangelo said.
Namath, slurring his words during rambling statements, twice told Kolber on camera that he wanted to kiss her, leaning in close to her at one point.
In a statement on Sunday, ESPN said the interview was cut short because of Namath's demeanor and that it would not have conducted the interview if it had anticipated Namath's state. Namath was at the game as part of the Jets' celebration of their all-time team.
