The University of Nevada, Reno, in collaboration with the Davidson Institute for Talent Development, is offering Nevada's brightest young people an opportunity to attend the 2004 THINK Summer Institute and earn college credit.
The THINK Summer Institute has never been offered in Nevada until now and is the most rigorous summer program offered to students in the state, organizers said.
The program is a "full-immersion academic experience," where middle school and high school students can earn college credits for doing college coursework, according to the Davidson Institute.
The three-week residential summer program is offered to 50 of Nevada's brightest students, grades 7-9. Participants who complete the program will receive seven transferable college credits. Applicants must take and submit scores from ACT or SAT-I, said Julie Dudley, Davidson Institute representative.
"It is important to get out the word as soon as possible because students must submit test scores from SATs or ACTs," Dudley said.
The THINK Summer Institute will run July 11-31. Tuition is $1,500 for the three-week program, and scholarships will be available based on financial need.
Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on March 15. For more information or to download an application, visit davidson-institute.org/think or call (775) 852-3483 ext. 430.
