"Asian Night" makes a return engagement to the Stardust Saturday, the fifth year the Vietnamese revue has performed at the 950-seat Wayne Newton Theater.
Producer Tony Song (Song Ngoc in his native language) had a successful producing and song writing career in his native South Vietnam during the 1960s and early '70s.
For several years he produced and hosted "The Song Ngoc Show," a musical show featuring Vietnamese entertainers.
In 1975 he brought his family and his producing expertise to the United States, settling in Houston and resuming his entertainment career, producing "The Song Ngoc Show" in clubs and concert halls around the nation.
The production added casinos to its tour in 1991, added comedians to the revue and changed its name to "Asian Night."
Today the cast is made up of Vietnamese folk, pop and rock 'n' roll singers and comedians.
Song is the host of the show, as well as the producer.
Song's son and assistant, Wayne Song, says his father's production company caters to casinos and other venues who want to add an Asian flair to their entertainment lineup.
"Las Vegas is our most popular stop on the tour," Wayne Song said, noting that the city is a popular destination for Asians.
In a prepared statement Stardust Vice President of Marketing Jim Seagrave said, "The show really brings a new dynamic to the property that our guests can enjoy. This show really is unique."
