CARSON CITY -- Six people from Las Vegas and one from Henderson have been appointed by Gov. Kenny Guinn to serve on various state boards and commissions.
The governor named Suzanne Magleby and Jeffrey Wrightson to the Maternal & Child Health Advisory Board; Thomas Peacock and Jean Peyton to the Workforce Investment Board; Michael Benjamin to the Commission on Sports; Dr. Rena Nora to the Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors; and Joan Lolmaugh of Henderson to the Nevada Arts Council.
The seven were among the 24 appointments announced Wednesday by Guinn, who praised people for serving on boards and commissions, saying they take time away from their jobs and receive little or no compensation.
