Volunteers D.A.R.E. to help family with restoration of home

D.A.R.E. Inc. of Southern Nevada and the Metro Police D.A.R.E. Detail gave one local family the holiday gift of a lifetime: the restoration of their northwest Las Vegas home.

The officers were joined by spouses, friends and family members to make a volunteer force 68-people strong, Dec. 6-8, installing more than $30,000 in donated materials to the project.

The crew took on the rehabilitation of the home as a community project for the holiday season for the Gadberry family, whose 4-year-old son, Ryan, was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago. The house had fallen into disrepair in that time.
