Porter delays trip to Iraq
Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 | 9:46 a.m.
WASHINGTON -- Nevada Rep. Jon Porter will postpone a trip to Iraq originally set for later this week because his doctors advised him Monday not to make the trip, Porter's spokesman, Adam Mayberry, said.
Porter, a Republican from Nevada's 3rd District, is being monitored for a virus in his right ear. There has been a slight improvement in Porter's hearing since his first visit to the hospital earlier this month, Mayberry said, but would offer no other details on the illness or the congressman's progress.
Mayberry said Porter "expects to, wants to and will likely" travel to Iraq sometime next year.
