Pedestrian falls, killed by car
A man fell while crossing Sahara Avenue at Sixth Street about 5 p.m. Sunday and was killed by a vehicle that could not stop in time on the rain-slicked road, police said.
Metro Police said it appeared that the pedestrian, who fell in the center westbound lane of Sahara was at fault in the accident.
The coroner's office will release the name of the victim after he is identified, police said.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, police said.
Steven Polski, 44, of Las Vegas, driving a 1999 Ford Escort, tried to stop to avoid the pedestrian after he fell, police said. Polski was not charged in the accident.
The pedestrian was the 121st traffic death in Metro's jurisdiction this year.

Woman critical after car plunges
A woman remained in critical condition Sunday after her car plunged into a wash Saturday off U.S. 95 near Russell Road.
No one saw the wrecked car and victim for over five hours, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was apparently involved in a three-vehicle crash about 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes between Tropicana Avenue and Russell Road, NHP troopers said.
The other two drivers either did not see her or did not report that the third car had flipped into the wash beneath the highway, troopers said.
The woman was trapped in her car for at least five hours before other motorists found her. She was rescued and taken to University Medical Center where she was on life support.

The driver of a sport utility vehicle was killed when his SUV flipped on Interstate 15 near Blue Diamond Road Saturday, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
A passenger in the vehicle was hospitalized. Neither of the victims was identified.

The driver veered right, spinning the SUV before it flipped on the shoulder. The driver was ejected, the Highway Patrol said.
