Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 | 11:15 a.m.
It only took one afternoon to fill all 300 additional appointment for flu shots after the Clark County Health District announced Friday it had secured a second supplementary batch of influenza vaccine.
Health District officials originally announced Thursday that they had received and would give out 300 flu shots to high-risk persons today. Those appointments were filled by early morning Friday.
An additional batch of 300 influenza vaccines was given to the Health District on Friday. Those appointment were filled by 3 p.m. Friday, the Health District said.
Health District spokesman Dave Tonelli said the district would try to secure additional batches of vaccine to distribute to high-risk people next week. This morning the district was waiting to hear from the state Board of Health about receiving more vaccines to distribute after Tuesday, he said.
People in the high-risk category include healthy children ages 6 to 23 months, adults age 65 years or older, pregnant women in their second or third trimester and children 2 or older with underlying chronic conditions.
Tonelli said as vaccine is secured, the availability of additional appointments will be announced.
For more information or to find out appointment availability, call the health district at 383-1351, 383-1352, or 383-1494.
