MGM MIRAGE, through its Primadonna Co. LLC subsidiary, will provide housing in Primm for its employees working at its Primm Valley Resorts in Primm, about 40 miles south of Las Vegas on the Nevada-California state line.
The $18.9 million, 436-unit apartment complex, now under construction, can house up to 656 people. Rent will be subsidized by the casino company and will cost between $350 and $575 per apartment.
MGM MIRAGE will not make money on the housing and construction costs were covered by budgeted funds.
The first two apartment buildings are scheduled to open in March. When completed in July, the complex will total 52 two-story apartment buildings and a 10,000-square-foot community center. There will be 72 studio apartments, 264 one-bedroom, 44 two-bedroom and 56 four-bedroom apartments, said Dennis Bonds, project manager for Perlman Architects.
Yvette Monet, spokeswoman for MGM MIRAGE, said the complex is a first for the company.
"Our goal in creating this new complex is to provide our employees with convenient, affordable housing," she said.
The company operates three hotel-casinos and two golf courses in Primm.
